MUNDARRA – is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘cloth’
This seemed like a fitting brand name, given that our clothes are made from recycled cloth. Ours is a range of individually designed, retro-fitted and reconstructed garments made for the enviro-friendly art lover.
Each item we create takes on its own unique personality, whilst still reflecting the labels core values. Our guiding philosophy is that we never make anything we wouldn’t wear ourselves.
Recycling is important to us, and we also wanted to create garments that you wouldn’t see absolutely everywhere. We work on each garment, either retro-fitting it with embellishments, creating a one-off art piece or totally reconstructing a number of garments to create an entirely new entitiy.
| The embellishments are knitted or felted with woollen and cotton yarns, wool tops and silk. We prefer to work with natural fibres and where possible, we aim to create 100% woollen jumpers, or wool blends. The retro-fitted skirts are different again. We only choose styles that are flattering to wear, and then apply a unique MUNDARRA design feature. We want our wearers to feel excited about our designs, and share their love of our label with others, comforted by the fact that no two garments are the same. The range is much like a tribe. The pieces hang well together, but each one is unique unto itself. |
